LeslieC, thank you for the update. Yes, the daytime temperatures have been considerably cooler, at least historically, around 20-25ºC and with more clouds, so we have that in our favor. We have real hiking shoes and DH has poles, too.

We returned last evening from our Athens holiday. Though a trip report is a few days in the making, I do want to thank everyone who encouraged a slow and steady approach to our sightseeing. DH (with his rubber-tipped hiking poles) conquered the Acropolis and everything else in Athens without problem.
