Can anyone recommend hotels in Athens near the Plaka that are clean and not more than $100US? Thank you

The Attalos, you will see plenty written about it on theis board but I thought for 75 euros it was fine, it was the best value I've found in Athens.

If you want a really inexpensive place there is the Athens Center Hotel which is 42euro for a single. It was not fancy but was clean and close to the Plaka.

I've stayed at the Hotel Cecil which is a refurbished early 20th century building on Athinas street - the rooms are nice and clean with high ceilings, the staff are friendly, it is very near Monastiraki and the Plaka, and a double room is only $75. But on the downside some of the rooms are quite small, the bathrooms are tiny and there is some street noise (but there is air con so you can close the windows without suffocating)<BR>I booked through<BR>www.i-escape.com/cecilhotel.php<BR>Hope that helps<BR>Michael
