Astral Travels - which tour??
We (with our teenagers) really want to see stonehenge and are still having a hard time deciding which of the tours to take. We have decided on using Astral Travels. Any thoughts??
Stones and Bones Tour - Salisbury Cathedral and City, Old Sarum Castle, Stonehenge, Avebury stone circle and medieval village, Chalk Hill figures, Celtic burial mounds, Country Pub Lunch
History and Mystery Tour - Explore the elegant Georgian City of Bath, famous for its hot springs and Roman Baths and the awe-inspiring circle of Stonehenge Stone Circle.
Stonehenge Special Access Tours - Go beyond the fences and touch the stones - a unique opportunity - Enjoy exclusive access into Stonehenge Inner Circle and a day in the heart of ancient Britain.
The Special Access Tour isn't offered on the day that we are hoping to fill. Is it worth shuffling days around to make it work??
Thanks for any input!! Babs

Hi. Last summer my husband, 14 yr.old son and I took the Stonehenge Special Access Tour with Astral Tours. It was fantastic. We arrived at Stonehenge just as it was closing to the general public. After everone had left, we were guided inside. Our Astral guide explained the history as we walked among the stones. The sun was setting and the site was awesome. There were two groups of Astral Tours (approx. 15 people in each group) touring the site at the same time. We were able to touch the stones (no climbing or sitting) and "felt" history. As a family, we still talk about the tour and how fabulous it was to walk among the stones and appreicate how they were built.
Sorry I can not comment on the other tours, but our tour was well done.

Babs people rave about the special access tour. If you're not giving up money from a deposit or theater tickets etc., I'd erarrange your scheduel to do that one. There have been several threads about doing the special access on your own, but I imagine you have to rent a car & drive to get there
(maybe a option with 4???). You might do a text search here for special access AND stonehenge.

When are you going? My family is taking an Astral private, special access tour because the special access tour is not available for the day we needed. We are going the end of May. If your trip is later in the year, my trip report may help.

I did the Stones & Bones tour in March 2002 - it was amazing. I highly recommend Astral! I had been to Stonehenge before, but everything else was new to me. Salisbury and Old Sarum were awe-inspiring. Lunch was good too (you get to pick from a menu, then they call it in)! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable.
I don't think you can go wrong w/ any Astral tour.
