Assisi - train station to Hotel Umbra

Can you tell me how far is Hotel Umbra from the train station in Assisi? We are arriving from Rome, and not sure if we can walk to the hotel or just take a taxi, etc...

Any advice is welcomed. Thanks.

There's a bus apparently, but I took a taxi for about 10 Euros. I'm a walker but would not walk this one, especially with bags!

There is a bus stop just outside the train station. You can buy the tickets in the train station. Its simple and easy. Don't even think of walking.

The train station is in the flat part of the valley - a couple of miles from Assisi. The city itself is located high up on a hill. Not sure where the hotel Umbra is located, but taxi is the way I'd go, unless the hotel tells you they are located close to the bus depot.

The Umbra (which is where I stayed) is across the piazza the church that used to be a temple, at the other end of the long main street from the basilica, at the end close to Santa Chiara. Not sure where the bus stops, but the taxi got me almost to the door.

We took a taxi for 10 Euro up the hill to our hotel. We made arrangements for a pickup by the taxi to take us to the train station for departure.

Think the bus would have been okay too but the taxi was easiest.
