Hi Dick, Thank you for what was but should not have been an epiphany for me: That my old old ggmother was from the poor classes and her pronunciation of "scone" probably reflected that. We have the same Scots background, then, and we are both in MA. This is not a come - on but it's fun to find kindred spirits on the site.
