Are there any tea dances anymore?
Do any of you know whether there are still any nice tea dances in London? I get the sense that an old standby (the Waldorf) no longer hosts them. I know formal tea in the hotels is pricey, as is the tea dance, but my husband and I ballroom dance, and the tea dance at the Walforf was always perfect. No, we are not seniors, but getting there...
For the record: since the Waldorf changed hands from a Meridien to a Hilton, they have been uncommunicative. 'No disparagement on the Hilton brand -
I've had many good experiences just this year at various properties -- but this particular hotel doesn't answer email enquiries, and the web page says nothing about a tea dance.

I have a nice little book called "Tea in the City" that says tea dances are making a comeback. One they mention is at the Royal Opera House, Floral Hall in Covent Garden. They're held from 1-3 PM on Fridays when the Floral Hall is available & to call for dates.

'Will check it out. Thanks!
For the record: the Waldorf-Hilton redeemed itself -- it answered my enquiry about tea dancing (it had not after a few email attempts in fall.) No, it no longer has tea dancing, just a nice teatime and a theater tea.
