Are there any shared vans that go to Victoria Station?

This may be a dumb question, but the header says it all. Anyone know if there are any shared vans there like there are to the airports?

Not a dumb question, just a bit incomplete. Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton? You need to give people more information for them to help you.

Incidentally, I'm hoping for one of those shared vans like JK Transport and the like. You know, the ones that pick up a few people from differnt homes and hotels and then take you to the airport... except in this case, it would be the train station. I thought since its such a major "port," a service like that might exist.

Thanks in advance.

To be honest, I can't think of anywhere such things exist. I've never heard of them in New York for example -- gathering up people to take them to Grand Central Terminal or Penn Station from various neighborhoods.
I suspect there is some sort of train or bus service from Streatham into London and then you take the tube if it doesn't take you to Victoria. That's how it would work in most cities.
Airports are a different animal from train stations.

OK. Now I have the dumb question. You're in Streatham. Streatham has two train stations which go directly to Victoria. Why not take the train?

Yeah, I just thought it was worth a try.

As it is now, I can either take a very expensive cab, or take the bus to the tube to another tube (I think).

I'm really tempted to fly to Paris instead of doing Eurostar just for convenience sake, but I think I'll lose time when I have to go through customs in Paris.

obxgirl, I read your post after I wrote mine. Perhaps my friend was wrong about the number of changes then. I will have to look and confirm.

Are you talking tube trains or something else?

No, I'm talking about railroad trains.

I checked my notes from a previous trip. Streatham Hill and Streatham Common stations have trains which go directly to Victoria Station. Under 30 minutes.

Aha. You're going to Paris on the Eurostar. You want Waterloo not Victoria Station. That will probably mean a bus ride and, sorry, I can't help you there but I can't imagine there isn't a bus going directly to a mainline station like Waterloo.

Are you by any chance talking about a mini-bus or a people carrier?
In the UK, a van is a vehicle for transporting goods.

I googled "bus streatham waterloo" and got this:

http://www.carlberry.co.uk/rfnshowr.asp?R=12014

Bus 59 runs from Streatham Hill to Waterloo. Leaves every 8 min Mon to Sat.

Hope that helps.
