Are RyanAir and EasyJet really that cheap??

We may have a change in our Ireland plans in Oct and may include a quick hop to London to catch a show. I checked out both above airlines. RyanAir was about 30 GBP RT and EasyJet was 45 GBP for the two of us. Is this true? It seems so cheap?

Don't forget to include the taxes (not sure if the above figures include that) and the credit card booking fee (which is something like 3 Euros for each set of flights booked at once, at least on EasyJet). But in general, yes, it is that cheap. Just remember all the caveats about showing up well in advance, and the possibility of more remote airports, although that may not be the case here.

See http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34531281 for discussions of even lower fares.

And http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34493807 takes the cake! Negative fares! For real!

Best wishes,

Rex

And look very carefully at their carry-on and checked luggage limits, or you might land up paying more for your suitcase(s) than for your flight.

(Rex's links may be to threads on the above topic, in which case I apologize to Rex.)

Note especially EasyJet's check-in times. When they say that a flight closes 30 minutes prior they MEAN it and none of the oft-reported "woman in tears" and "I got an upgrade because we were on our Honeymoon" stuff applies.

And when they say "no refunds" they mean that, too!

We recently flew Easy Jet from Edinburgh to London for about $38 each. I believe only one piece of luggage each was allowed to check and mine was overweight and they did not weigh it or charge extra. they did not weigh our carryons but they were the correct size requirement--my CO was probably at the 13lb limit. The experience with EJ was very pleasant and we will definitely fly with them again.
