Are all phone cards created =

I have been calling Paris & start off with a nice number of minutes. Next time i use the cards--true of various brands--I am told I am down to a ridiculous "few."
Anyone have a good card co.? Seems like a widespread rip-off.

After it was recommended in Consumer Reports magazine, I got myself an ITT phone card because of the comments that both domestice US long distance as well as international rates were the lowest.
I used it in March for several calls between Hawaii and the mainland US, and now that I've received my bill I can't believe how cheap those calls were! And they were made on weekdays, during the day.
Haven't used it internationally yet, but so far so good.
If you want to inquire, call
1 800 477 9692. You have to mention it if you want international as well as domestic calling.

Do you have reference to phone cards bought and used in the USA?

If so, I haven't a clue. I use one of those long distance codes. Some of them offer good rates.

If you have reference to Europe, as far as I know, in France and Switzerland, the rates are government controlled because the phone system is government controlled.

I think a lot of them are ripoffs, like AT&T from what I've heard and you actually pay more than with a regular AT&T calling card. You must read the fine print which should tell you that the "minutes" are counted differently in various countries, so one American minute is not equal to one French minute. If you call abroad a lot, perhaps your best idea would be to get a special rate international plan rather than using those limited cards.

On my last trip to Germany, we used the AT&T calling card part of our AT&T credit card. That was a major and costly mistake. I have not used the calling card part of this company, I use their 10-10 number to call Germany and have not had any problems, but their card deal looks straight forward. The web site is www.pt-1.com the web site is good about explaining the charges on the calling card. I have no complaints about the 9 cents a min to Germany at all.
