Apartments in Florence?

We are looking for a centrally located apartment in Florence with a few requirements: (1) not too many steps up to get to the apartment--or an elevator. (2) quiet during the night (3) queen, king or twin beds--no sofa bed. (4) a bedroom in which there are shades or shutters to block out morning light (4) between $75 and $110 per night. We have travelled to Florence 3-4 times, but not in the last 10 years. Also if anyone has been to Varenna and has a hotel or apartment suggestion, that would be great. We are presently considering Il Guardino Sul Lago bed and breakfast.

My first reaction is that your budget is rather low, especially for a centrally located apartment in Firenze. You may also want to think in euros, which is the local currency.

In May 2016 we stayed at the Dante apartment, minutes away from Dante’s house and the Duomo. The apartment belongs to a B&B which is right next door, though there’s a flight of stairs to go up, no elevator. But the place was super convenient and we walked everywhere. I believe we paid €139/night.

$75 to $100 is roughly 65 to 85 euros per night at current exchange rates

Hi, check out this airbnb. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/501508. I plugged in 3 nights in May, for 2 people and it came back with base rate of £81 per night (I'm in UK) which is about $104/night . There is a flight of stairs to go down directly into the flat. I've stayed there a few times, it's dark and quiet (I overslept til 11:00 one morning!). Pictures are accurate, well appointed and it's right across street from lovely park. Host speaks English/Italian. Have fun.

It looks beautiful. Unfortunately, this June, it would be $400 per night!

Omg, that pretty expensive! As I said, we paid €139/night, with a 10% discount since we stayed 5 nights. This was almost 3 years ago, but am surprised prices have gone up so much...
