Yes you correct the number is not the one they should display it is not right each property will have it's own number. That number is for something completely different.

This issue has really been bothering me, so I contacted Inside BCN directly. I have been assured that all of their properties are registered and have the required numbers.

For example, I will be staying in the Esparteria building whose registration is # HUTB-000131. Inside BCN was notified a few weeks ago that these numbers must be added to their website, and they are working with their web designer to get this done.

ribeirasacra, I hope that this satisfies you. You probably mean well, but I think you should be more careful before you imply that a company might be operating illegally and that booking with them could ruin a person's vacation!

I hope that we can all now agree that I can recommend Inside BCN with no hesitation. My interaction with them on this issue only further illustrates what a pleasure they are to deal with!

Strange they have not published them because I understand that
as of the 30th January 2014 it is now compulsory to include your HUT number in all advertising for holiday rentals.
However I go on to say this information still stands for anyone who now wishes to rent self-catering (be it an apartment or a villa etc) that the property must be registered and show the registration number in any publicity. Other Spanish comunidad autónomas are also thinking about going down the same route.
The Canary Island and The Balearic already have similar laws. Andalusia is thought to be the next comunidad autónoma to be introducing new rental regulations.

ribeirasacra --

I appreciate that you are trying to provide clarity regarding these laws, but I also wonder why you are being somewhat belligerent about it.

I took a look at your website and do not see any registration numbers on any of your advertisements. Perhaps this law doesn't apply to your region of Spain (yet)?

Nonetheless, the fact that Magster took the time to contact Inside BCN for clarification is good enough for me.

This sounds like sour grapes to me, IMHO.

Wow! I didn't realize my post would spark such a lively conversation. I did end up finding a rental for my family in Barcelona and ended up using airbnb. Now onto looking for rentals in Malaga, Granada, Sevilla and Cordoba!

Judy no it is not required here in Galicia. Besides I am in a different business. I have to abide by different laws. All Casa Rurals (B&Bs) here in Galicia must display a plaque. going back to my website and if you care to look at the photo of the front of the building you can see a square green plaque with the letters CA (the classification) and a gold fan like emblem. That is a requirement, plus many other which I will not bore you with here.

I can assure you it has nothing to do with sour grapes more to keep the members informed of what is happening here in Spain.I would hate a member to come back and say I wish someone told me about the registration of rentals in Catalunya. It would be terrible to read about news of someone here loosing their hard earned cash booking a rental only to arrive in Spain and find it had been closed down due to irregularities.

mmodrich: Even adverts on AirBnB for rentals in BCN must have the registration number. I hope you get the number for the accommodation you booked soon. But the other areas there is no law at present.

mmodrich -- I am also researching lodging for Granada, Seville and Barcelona -- I'd be interested in knowing what you wound up going with.

Thanks!

Well it has happened.
Cataluña is fining AirBnB for advertising illegal accommodation.
http://economia.elpais.com/economia/...35_679660.html
Is this the start of other portals begin fined too? Will this mean the reduction of rentals in Cataluña?
Will your vacation rental disappear before you get there? Just ensure they have a licence number and the answer will be no.

I have not found one which is registered but I am not planning to look at them all.

I just done a search in several languages using the street and number there is no result.
I even tried to add a T to the number in case the owner got it wrong. ie HUBT-006767. Still no result.
Have you tried?

I have also googled the number and it only comes up on AirBnB. where as this number HUTB-006825(for example) comes up on several Catalan websites.

I did try and had a hard time finding it. I then added the T and looked under Tourist dwellings and found this -

HUTB-006767
Mallorca, 341
CP: 08037 - Eixample-Zona Passeig de Gràcia

I also contacted him thru AirBnB and he said the number without the T is correct. So, I am a bit confused.

This is link to where I found the above address.

Well there you have it a typo. He missed the T and I placed it in the wrong place.
Just proves that not all listings on AirBnB are bad.
Your post got me thinking. So I went over to Booking.com and could not find any apartment* with a HUTB number. Hopefully either Booking will correct this or the government will be also looking into listing on this website too. Trouble is Booking has an office in the city!

* It was not very scientific survey, just picked a very at random.

I really like the looks of that apartment, it's location seems good based on what I read above and the owner replied quickly to my question and had nice things to say about all of my reviews on Airbnb - so we may move forward with the rental.

Thanks for pointing out the need to check the HUTB number!

I too like the look of the flat and the reviews about the owner. I am glad you went a head with it. Have a great time in BCN.
