Apartment in Tuscany and Umbria
Just when you think you are on to a good thing, you become doubtful! There is just 4 months till our Italian honeymoon for 12 days and I am pretty close to booking the recommended le case gialle for a week whilst renting a car. This would be in between 2 days Florence and 3 in Rome. (after 6 days in Amsterdam)
Advice from other travellers suggests not to spend a week in the one spot backtracking to the same apartment each night but rather keep moving forward for day trips to Tuscan/Umbrian towns. The apartments are only available for 1 week at a time in summer. This will cost 650 euro for a week which I am very happy with.
I also like the idea of somewhere closer to Florence to base ourselves for about 5 days instead of a week. What do you guys think?
I would like to fly into Pisa and go straight to our first night (probably Florence for 2/3 nights). Then rent a car and stay in the countryside for 5 days or so, then drop car off and train to Rome for about 3/4 nights.
I am getting worried that I am leaving it to late. Can anyone recommend accomodation for these places? I was given the greve-in-chianti website which seems ok. Any personal experiences?
Should I just take the accomodation I already have in mind. What about Florence and Rome?
Please help.

My sister stayed just outside San Gimignano which is within striking distance to Siena, Chianti, Florence and Volterra. The place was beautiful with a spectacular views. Here is the link if you want to check it out.

You shouldn't wait too much longer before making a decision as the best accommodation books far in advance.

Pay for a week at Casa Gialle if you must but only stay for 4 or 5 nites. Then go to near San Gim. for 2 or 3 nites at www.casanovadipescille.com
It is less than 200E more that way.

Well, I was one of the ones who recommended Le Case Gialle, so I will give my opinion. We spent five nights there. I loved it, but I honestly think that three or four nights would have been more than adequate. If I were to change anything, I would have spent 3 nights in Le Case Gialle and 2 nights either near Orvieto or near Pienza/Montepulciano, but we only had 5 nights, not 7 like you do. We took a daytrip to both, which worked out fine, but we could have enjoyed the surrounding areas as well if we would have broken up the trip.
That being said, Umbria was absolutely lovely and less crowded than Tuscany, and we loved the location of Case Gialle. It was perfect for exploring the surrounding area.
I agree with Bobthenavigator. Le Case Gialle is very well priced. You could pay for all seven nights, just stay 4 or 5, and still save money.
Good luck, and congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Thanks for your help Tracy. I think we'll take le case gialle for a week on all recommendations and if we don't stay every night it doesn't matter because the price is so good.
In between Amsterdam, Florence and Rome I think the countryside will do us good, being Aussies and all that, we like things a little slower in pace!!!
Cheers, Quinny
