Anyone interested in Krakow-Zakopane-Tatras?

Anyone interested in Krakow-Zakopane-Tatras?

I plan to travel solo to Krakow-Zakopane-Tatras in early September 2001. Looking to meet other groups or independent travelers who are going or wish to go to these same areas. I would like to spend most of my time around Zakopane and mountains - hiking, Dunajec rafting, Morskie Oko, shopping, local culture, etc. Anyone interested? It would be nice to meet up with other travelers while there. I am in my early forties and love to walk.

Dunajec is not on this route. September is a great time to hike in Tatras. All crowds are gone and it is still warm but very often it does snow in the higher elevations so be prepared. I used to hike there alone and it was a very interesting experience but too many people try to overcharged me for meals, accommodations, even bus tickets. It never happened across the border so I rather go hiking in Tatras in Slovakia.

There's a walking tour company based in Oregon that I think has a hiking tour in the Tatras in Poland. At least it did last year. (I'm looking at their 2000 brochure as I write.) I have never been on one of their tours and I don't know whether they're good. My impression is that they are for real HIKING as opposed to "walking" and they seem to run trips mainly in mountainous areas. Their tel. is 888-743-0723, wbsite is www.wsadventures.com.

Hi Victorija, I'm planning on a 3 week trip in early September going to Poland, Slovakia and Rumania. As Rex above mentioned, we are looking for others with simular travel plans to hook up for part/all of the time. If you are interested further, you could e-mail either myself or Rex. <BR>Arthur
