Anyone heard of Moores Car Rental?

Has anyone heard of Moores Car rental? I received a better price from them than AutoEurope out of Gatwick for five days and returning it to Heathrow. AutoEurope quoted me 202.92 GBP for a compact car plus road tax, airport surcharge. It includes unlimited mileage, fire insurance and third party liability only, no CDW or Theft or additional drivers. However, I got a quote from Moores (for a compact car, automatic at 180.00 pounds sterling inc. (Unlimited Mileage, CDW Insurance, One Extra Driver, Theft Cover, RF Fee, & VAT) which obviously is less money and more inclusvie. However, I wasn't quite sure of their reputation and experiences other people have had with them. Is the quote too good to be true? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have not used them personally - but do know they have been around for a long time and are reputable. They have branches near many UK airports.

I wasn't familar with them so I've looked up their website. http://www.mooresrental.com/
They are a broker (like AutoEurope) and their rates are indeed keen, but unlike AutoEurope and some other brokers (like Holidayautos), they carry an excess/deductible of £500 (£800 for higher category cars). They push their own excess waiver insurance, which will push up the cost. Worth bearing in mind. Also they may not have as generous cancellation/amendment terms.

Thanks for the insight. On your recommendation, I also looked up Holiday Autos and their price was even better. How's their reputation and have you used them or have you heard anything from others about their service?

Alec or Janis - do you know if one's credit card covers this excess/deductible, or is it automatic if you don't purchase additional insurance from the car company or Moore's own insurance? Since I'm leaving in one week, I ought to figure this out!

BTW, although Holiday Autos was cheaper that was for a manual car, and this being our first time driving in England, we are better off trying to get used to one thing at a time, and a manual car just adds another obstacle. Thanks anyway for the recommendation.

You need to ask rental agents directly about using credit card coverage for CDW/deductible. As this benefit is confined to US cards, you might like to look at US broker kemwell.com, who I believe is also owned by Holidayautos. They've been around a long time and are I believe one of the the largest rental brokers in UK and Europe.

I agree w/ alec. Some rental firms accept credit cards to cover the excess, and some don't. Many (most, actually) agencies/consolidators that you'd contact from the states will include CDW in the quoted rates. But the excess (deductible) is the one that can bite you. Each company is different . . . . .

Thanks. I'm going to look into that with my credit card company. Also, in the meantime, I noticed that AutoEurope guarantees the lowest price so I advised them I received two better rates elsewhere with more included and they are supposedly going to reduce my rate to match it, but to what extent, I'm not one hundred percent sure. I'll find out the details tomorrow. Thanks again for your help.
