Anyone ever stay at Hotel Bellevue du et chariot de Or ?

http://www.hotelbellevue75.com/

These look like cheap digs but do you think the hotel is in a reasonable location. Also I am wondering that since I am traveling in November should'nt I also book closer to that time so that I can get a better deal. The hotel is not offering discounts right now.

Wanted to book at Hotel De Nesle but read too many reviews where people did not have reservation honored.

Anyone else have ideas for cheap, clean, safe and central lodging for November?

And is this a guessing gave for us to try to figure out where these hotels are? There are about a hundred Hotel Bellevue's but not those other names don't ring a bell with me.

Even if you were under the false assumption that if you clicked on a country name we would all somehow know what you clicked (we don't if we just look at the Europe board), still a city in that country might be a nice additional bit of information.

Well, the hotel's name appears to be French, but incorrect French; so probably it's not in France.

Well, since I felt up for a challenge, I realized this was pretty easy. I just cut and pasted the website and viola -- found the hotel is in Paris (although Sarah, slightly botched the name).
Yes, it's a good area.

I knew the hotel was in Paris just because I knew Hotel de Nesle was in Paris.

It's already mid-September, I don't think waiting until November is going to yield you a lot, particularly in the kind of hotels you are considering. Hotels who offer discounts in November don't wait until the last minute to do it, so I don't think there is any point to waiting. Parisian hotels generally have their seasonal rate periods set up well in advance and know what they are. They post seasonal rates in advance on their websites or other places where they have a major presence. www.123france.com and www.pariserve.tm.fr are two websites that list Parisian hotel seasonal rates, and they are listed in advance, not just at the last minute.

I think some upper level hotels may give deals at the last minute on such websites as www.lastminute.com but that is a different type of thing.

If the hotel you want says they don't offer lower rates in November, I would believe them. Not that many Parisian hotels do, actually, although some do. It's not the most common period for cheaper hotel rates.

ah such testy fodor's people lol.

I left the hotel link because I thought I may have botched the spelling. I did think the spelling I left would alert people that knew the hotel. If you click on the link lol the spelling is pretty close.

Thanks for coming on though and thinking about my question. Just had to laugh when I saw the heming and hawing Patrick. I appreciate your trouble though even in opening up this question.

I know the location is ok just wondering how central. So often hotels say they are central and then you get there and central means 6-12 blocks walking.

Anyone else have suggestions for cheap, safe, central digs in Paris. I am thinking of Central as Marais or Latin Quarter. If I am off on that tell me how. I have not been to Paris in 20 years.

Thanks Christina that is a great heads up. Thanks everyone for taking a look.

Yes, some of us are picky. So picky in fact we think it's a good idea to tell us what city the hotel you're asking about is in. Is that too much too understand?

Yes, the hotel is "central" to Marais, sort of in the middle of it. You talk about how many blocks. To what? It's a long walk to the Eiffel Tower and a very short walk to the Beaubourg. No location in Paris is "central" to everything. I really have no idea what you mean by "central" when you're talking about Paris, since you already know from looking at the website that this hotel is in the Marais which you admit you consider central.

What is your hotel budget? There are lot of good ones out there--for instance,

Résidence Pension Ladagnous
78, Rue d'Assas
75006 Paris
M°: Notre-Dame-des-Champs or Vavin

Single: 45€
Double: 62€
Triple: 77€
Quad: 104€
Breakfast offered! Taxes included!

Ensuite shower in each room.

Dinner available Mon-Fri for 12€.

http://www.pensionladagnous.com/index-gb.htm

I happened upon a VERY simple hotel in the 7th arrondissement. The Hotel Montebello is by no means fancy! No elevator. No robes in the bathrooms. Not even telephones in the rooms.

However, at 39 Euros for one person, and 49 Euros for two people, who can complain? In addition, the owner and his son are super nice and speak English.

Located only a 5 minute walk from Bon Marche:
18, Pierre Leroux - 75007
Tel: 331 47 34 41 18
Fax: 331 47 34 46 71
Email: [email protected]

The hotel is located between the Eiffel Tower and Montparnasse.

Remember - simple clean and cheap in a GREAT location!

Hi Sarah, the hotel looks very nice on the website. What did you want to be close to? We stayed in the marais the last time we were in Paris and just loved the area. Let us know what you would like to be convenient to and maybe someone can help out.

Patrick, central to Marais is exactly what I meant. You got it right the first time round. Now wake up and go to sleep, tomorrow is a whole new day to feel clever from chat room postings.

Thanks Underhill I will check that out. I am looking for a twin with a shower in the room. I don't really have a budget but just try to stay as cheap as I can. Then the next time I don't hesitate taking off like this. Your suggestions look great.

Any words on Airfare? Should I wait a bit longer for better fares to come round? Was thinking of buying this week or next. Flying from NYC, usually this time of year (November), you can go to Europe in November for $400 and or a bit over. Its currenty over $650 for direct evening flights coming and going. Just worried Katrina could have changed how cheaply I can fly now.

Thanks again underhill for your thoughtful response.

Anyone been to Hotel de Nesle?

Air France has a super sale going on until Sept. 22nd. And it appears that all the other major airlines have sales going on too. I checked mid-November from NYC to CDG and it's about $204 one way. Sounds like you should look into it!

Hey Franco File.

There are two flights I am focusing on AA Dep. JFK 9:30pm Return from CDG 5:55Pm a

Air France Dep. 9:30pm or 7:30pm somewhere in there and return direct on 6:50pm.

Those flights are coming up 660 and 920+. Will try again, might be a time of day thing. I am looking to leave November 21 and Return November 22.

I was using www.kayak.com a pretty groovy sight if you don't know it. Where were you going?

I checked the AF site. Nov. 21st leaving @ 5 pm from JFK to CDG is $204. I think you erroneously said your return is Nov. 22nd. The cheapest return fare is $204 on Nov. 29th (departing 8:25 a.m. from CDG). Otherwise, it's $235 returning on either the 27th or 28th.

Hi Margie,

Marais and Latin Quarter were the areas that were suggested to me here on this forum. I have not been to Paris in 20 years. When I was there, I stayed right off Rue Di Rivoli. I thought that was near the Louvre? I am guessing central arrondisemonts like 1. 3,5, 6 will work out. I was once warned to not go beyond 12 for a comfortable trip. At this point I am open to suggestions.

I am going with a 20 year old that has never been and we are going for such a short time that I wanted to stay fairly close to Latin Quarter and Louvre area. When I say central I mean central to those areas. Don’t want to have to get on a subway to see something eventful. I want to get to museum de orsay. But again I have not been in so long I am open to suggestions in completely different areas. Still in such beginning stages and me memory is not so good as the area I want to be in.

One building along the seine that is quite idyllic from memory. I forget the name. Will let you know when I come back on. Seem to remember it being on a walk to Notre Dame. Will check back. Thanks for your kind and thoughtful response.

I usually stay in the 4th - 7th districts. The part of the 7th that borders St. Germain (the 6th) is where I stay. I liked all of these districts.

4th: Hotel de Lutece

5th: Relais St. Jacques (not to be confused with Hotel St. Jacques)

Abbatial St. Germain

6th: Love the district but didn't care for the hotels I stayed at (Hotel d' Angleterre and Hotel du Danube). I would love to stay at Hotel Le Regent however.

7th: Hotel de Verneuil - It was my favorite hotel but no more. I find it's overpriced. I am thinking of staying at the Hotel St. Thomas d' Aquin next visit.
