Hi, I didn't mean to upset anyone, or scare monger. I'm brand new to the boards, and I had looked for any postings about the recent events, and finally posted a question, because the friends going with us have cancelled, and I thought, maybe I'm just totally out of touch with things, (which is always a real possibility anyway). Thanks to everyone who gave their patient and knowledgable answers. I haven't traveled since we had our child, so I'm very rusty. I was utterly fearless until the kid came along, and now, well, that's how it goes. Apologies to the folks I irritated, and thanks to those who talked it out for me. We are going to go, because one day soon, our kid will want to go with friends wherever, not travel with the old parents. And heck, we want to see it too. And the things I read came up when I typed in the Fringe, but I think something would come up right now, no matter what one types in, because people are just being more cautious. Thanks to all of you who were patient with my temporary nervousness. Hope you get to visit where you want to go too. Take care, L

lovetotravel....

Totally understandable but we all have to face facts...these sub human pieces of garbage can strike anywhere in the western world. They hate anything associated with the west. Therefore any travel, even down to the corner grocery, has the possibility of one of these savages pulling off something.

The only thing to do is to continue to lead our lives normally. There is no place in the western world inherently safer than any other.

Edinburgh is pretty security conscious. They practiced alot before the G8 summit. They have a thorough network of closed circuit cameras in the city center. Anything can happen anywhere, but I'd go in a heartbeat.
