Anyone been to these Riveria hotels?
Looking for first hand information about these hotels: the Carlton Intercontinental in Cannes, La Perouse and Beau Rivage in Nice. Thanks very much. Also, which area would be best for exploring the Riveria for 5 days in APril?

Hi Cyndy. Sorry I can't offer any info about hotels. As far as which are would be "best" for exploring the Rivieria, what do you mean? Do you mean whether Cannes or Nice would make a better base for exploration, or do you mean what area(s) would be nice to explore? And it would help me, or others, if you mentioned what kinds of things you prefer to do. Merci!

My choice would be the Carlton in Cannes. I very much preferred Cannes over Nice. I just thought it was a nicer place to use as a base to explore. And the Carlton Hotel is very nice. Do a search and you will find many threads explaining the difference between staying in Cannes or Nice.

what we did was stayed in niece & rented a car. we spent one day in cannes & the other in manti carlo (niece is right in the middle of the two!). each one has it's charm, if you're going in april it could be a bit cold (you prob. won't be able to go in the water!) there was a nice shopping area in niece which you could hang out in at nights w/ food courts & all too! (during the day too!)

I have stayed at the Beau Rivage and highly recommend it. It is ideally placed -- while it fronts on a street that runs parallel to the beach, they have a dining room in the back of the hotel which is actually on the beach. Very close to all transportation and the quirky little train which departs from the beach, takes you through Old Town and up to the top of the "mountain" overlooking the whole area. Went to Cannes from Nice and couldn't really see any difference. It will be easy to explore the whole Riviera area from either location.
