For us, the best breakfast you can have is to walk into a local cafe and stand at the bar with the locals and have a croissant and coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. You'll feel verrry French and watching the whole scene is so great. They'll be all over your area. Try different ones. For more Paris information e-mail me - [email protected]

There's a nice cafe I used to have breakfast in when staying in that area which is just on the south side of bd St-Germain right at place Maubert.

Barry, I stayed at the Abbatial St. Germain last year. The hotel itself has very good breakfasts. There is also an open-air market on Wednesday or Thursday in the Place Maubert and you may be able to pick up breakfast there. Otherwise, I would just wander over the Boulevard St. Michel and find one of the many boulangerie/patisseries.

P.S. The Abbatial St. Germain is a very nice, friendly hotel.
