Any experiences on Continental Transatlantic

I'm flying Continental (coach) from Houston to Rome in a few weeks. This is the first time that I have every flown Continental. Anything particular to look out for? Are they typically on time? Normal sardine seats? etc?

We flew Newark to Rome and back from Milan on Continental they partner with Alitalia airlines, found them pretty good, on time, no problems. We've flown British Air, SAS and United overseas. The planes were new and very nice and clean, food typical airline fare.

Flew last month fro MY to Paris. Excellent service. Comfortable seats (relatively speaking, that is). Those few extra inches of legroom make a big difference. And, yes, they are almost always on time. All in all, a most satisfying experience.

What few inches of extra leg room? On Continental? I thought it was American that added the extra leg room in coach class. Has Continental done this also?

I always fly on Continental. In May I flew from Newark to Rome and then back to Newark from Paris a few weeks later. Both flights were right on time. The seats are pretty typical, but nice service, and the food was OK (I had the vegetarian meals).

Yes, bettyk, we had different planes each way, and in both instances there were a few extra inches of legroom. I'm 6 feet tall with long legs, which usually touch the pocket of the seat in front of me. It didn't happen this time.

Howard: we flew Continental to Europe last year (a fiasco but that's another matter). There were not any extra inches in our seating. I'm curious as to which airports you flew into and out of? Could that make a difference?

Gail, we flew to and from Newark, a major Continental hub.
I can assure that both planes were new when we flew in May! So, they would not have been in service last year.
I'm surprised you called your trip with Continental a fiasco. I have always found Continental personnel--from initial booking on--to be most helpful, friendly and courteous at all times, both on the phone and in person.

We flew Continental last month from Newark to Paris. The flights were on time (except leaving CDG due to a bomb scare, but that's another story), the planes were new (with those individualized movie/TV/video game screens, service was fine. My only complaint was that the food was horrific -- unidentifiable. I'd look into ordering a special meal.
