I have read that the switching voltage converters will burn up electronic devices but will they work ok for heating devices such as curling irons and blow dryers? (non dual voltage)

Converters are expensive, heavy, and just do not work very well with anything that heats up, even a curling iron.

Best bet is a dual voltage curling iron and plug adapter. Conair, and others, makes a huge variety. I use the same one at home I take traveling (though I have a duplicate I keep packed at all times so I can't forget to pack it).

The one that operates both hair dryers and curling irons needs to be hi-low (range from 0-2000 watts)and auto-switches(someone are manual switch). Weighs about 13 ounces. You still will need to turn your appliances on low and they will work fine.

Many curling irons are dual voltage. Did you check the listing on it?

Thanks for all information. I use a pronged blow dryer only that I bought in Ireland so don't need to fool with this stuff anymore!!
