Anniversary in Spain
I am planning a 2oth anniversary trip later this year (oct/nov) and would like to hear your recommendations as far as accomodations and general sight seeing is concerned. I would like to at least visit Madrid and Barcelona. Please share your experiences, good and bad.

We just spent our 20th anniversary in Spain (and France). Barcelona was one of my favorite places--so much to see--especially the Gaudi architecture. Make sure you go on top of Casa Milo and go to Parc Guell as well as Sagrada Familia. La Dolca Herminia on Magdolenes 27 was an excellent restaurant and very reasonalbe. I also loved Servilla--especially the Santa Cruz area and Plaza de Espana. Also, the flamenco show at Los Gallos was fantastic. Unless you have you heart set on seeing the Prado and Sophia (which I did), I would say Madrid didn't measure up to Barcelona or Sevilla. However, you can stay at this wonderful and inexpensive (and very romantic) place in Toledo and easily take a day trip to catch the Prado and Sophia. It's called Hotel del Cardenal at Paseo de Recaredo 24. Spain is wonderful. I plan to take Spanish lessons and return.

You may not be familiar with the concept of a "Fodorites' trip" (and may not have any interest - - whether you're familiar or not) - - but I am hoping to develop an October trip to spain, and you would be welcome to join in on this trip - - or even have the trip developed around your particular dates and wishes, if you have the interest.

Best wishes,

Rex Bickers
Westerville, Ohio

26th anniversary just this past January, for what it's worth.
