Anne Frank on YouTube ~ the peace tree
Oct 3, 2009 ... It's the same old Tree, just a difference in the web address, ... The Anne Frank House has also established a YouTube channel. ...

Well i guess the much reported doom over the famous chestnut tree Anne Frank used to look out at and reap hope from has passed? Seems the tree is still there. A few years ago i thought the city of Amsterdam wanted it chopped down - due to disease and danger of toppling itself, etc.

But today in the NYTimes there was an artcile about sapplings somehow garnered from the Anne Frank House tree were being given to about 15 places in the U.S. and a Google search shows this video.

anyone have word on the current status of the tree?

Yes! They pruned it and saved it. I have a darling pic of my daughter standing under it from last summer.

It's still there, tied up by strong wires. Still sick and dying though.
The saplings were grown from conkers from the tree.

The tree blew down at 1.30 this afternoon.
It was sick and should have been cut down before but now it has finally fallen. It broke of 1.5 metres from the ground.
No one was hurt, and no buildings were damaged.
