Andalusia, Tangiers, Barcelona?

Bellatravel, if you decide to visit Tangier, I can recommend a place I've stayed twice. http://latangerina.com/en/ Reasonable price with an upscale feel, the most wonderful roof terrace with views across the strait, in a quiet residential street above the medina.

I must add besides RS, I read a recommendation in the travel section of the local paper by a woman who went to Tarifa, Spain, took a $35 ferry to Tangier where she was picked up by a tour guide and owner of a 14th century riad, stayed 3 days and had a wonderful time... sounds intriguing

Should you go to Tangier, take that ferry from Tarifa because it lands right in Tangier Harbor. Ferries from Algeciras or Malaga go into TangerMed a new port at some distance from Tangier itself.

"Waste" is in the eye of the beholder. Regarding those who say Tangier isn't the "real" Morocco, no it isn't like Fes, or Chefchaouen, or Marrakech, but neither are those like one another. Morocco is different everywhere one goes and, in my opinion, Tangier is a great version of itself, with it's own history, setting, mix of influences. It really is a bore to hear the parroting of what it isn't, or what those who don't know it well think it should be, when what it is is it's perfect self.

I would also recommend Córdoba, around 1000 AD and under Moorish rule it was the most advanced city in Europe. Only 40 mins from Sevilla and 50 minutes from Málaga with the high speed AVE Train. My advice would be to skip Tangiers and Barcelona and focus on wonderful Andalucía.
See this video and you're sold on Córdoba ;-)

And when you come here, the old world luxcury Gran Hotel Miramar from 1926 would have reopened right on the Malagueta beach in Málaga. 9000m2 gardens and five so called gastronomic spaces within the hotel. Bargain room offers if reserved now before it opens in January, and I can't wait to have at least a lunch here. Was here a couple of weeks ago, and works are coming to an end, looks amazing!

The largest archeological and arts museum in Andalucía also opens in Málaga next month, in the magnificent old tobacco factory and later customs building. One floor with Picasso, Velázquez etc, the second floor with artefacts dating back beyond Phoenician times and restaurants on the third floor.

And full packed with top concerts and dance performances in majestic Teatro Cervantes, both world class Andalucian, Spanish and international artists.
