Somehow that great event had passed me by but perché non? Which reminds me I still haven't emailed Caroline and Phil about catching up with them in Feb.

Seriously it would be lovely to meet you two and where better place than Venice?

Thanks Lin - it's on my list of possibles for my last day in Venice, a day exploring the Ghetto and Cannaregio being no 1, and a day trip to Padua no 2.

What did you particularly like there?

I like Venice' Via Garibaldi - a real street! With all these usual caffes, gelato shops, kids playing - seems about as real a place in Venice as any - walk along it towards eastern tip of Venice -nearly no tourists and some normal neighborhoods few tourists venture to.

mmm - I like it too, Pal. We discovered it the time we took the kids to Venice and got off the boat back from Murano at the Giardino stop. It's quite a way from where I'll be staying though and something I like to do when I stay in a new neighbourhood is to get to know it as well as I can. So there may not be time for me to get over there on this visit.
