An afternoon at the Hamman-ok for an American woman?

Have heard great stories about the saunas & tea at the Institut du Arabe. Would you like to spend an afternoon there, yet am a little cautious due to current world situation. Am I being ridiculous or shall I heed caution?

There is no sauna at the IMA, just a coffee/tea-place and a roof top restaurant. The museum is great.
http://www.imarabe.org/
For the hammam you'd have to go to the Mosque de Paris in the 5th arr.

Hmmmm, an interesting cultural experience in Paris. Does anyone have a firsthand story about going to a hamman? What was it like? What's the protocol?

I am an american living in Paris, and having been to the hammam, I can't imagine having any problems there, or elsewhere in Paris for that matter. With all do respect to your question, what would happen in a room with a bunch of nearly naked women? People go there to relax and enjoy the experience, so just go and have a good time!
