Amsterdam Trip

Heloo .... We are scheduled to be in Amsterdam on the 15th of Sept & are booked at the Moven pick hotel ...... Need some advise as to how we do reach the city centre & what all should we plan to see ... we will be staying for 3 nights , Both Me & wife are very excited & would like to know what not to be missed while we are there , Pls note we do have our 9 month old daughter also with us ...... Can we like take her out with a stroller or should we carry a shoulder back pack

are there any contacts to arrange for a bike ride / tour or a bus tour to see the city around ?

Any advise would be of great help

Thanks

Vikram

You can take the stroller. More comfortable for all of you.

The Movenpick is on the water not far from Centraal station. You can either use their free shuttle to CS, from where you can walk or get a tram around, or you can use the stop and go bus, (http://tinyurl.com/323g8qw) or take tram 25 or 26.
You can find out more about public transport in Amsterdam and h the tickets you need at http://www.gvb.nl/english/Pages/default.aspx

You can take a boat tour from near Centraal Station.
A bike tour may be more problematic with a 9 month old - I don't know if bike tours operators also hire child seats or not. Maybe someone else can help with that. She has to be able to sit up well on her own, and be in a seat in front of you (on the handlebars) at that age, or in a trailer behind, unless you can cope with a bakfiets.

Your questions are rather rudimentary. Maybe you can do a little researh first. Use the Search the Forums box above. Amsterdam is one of the most frequent topics and there are hundreds of threads on Fodors.

With a baby you could take one of those bicycle rickshaw tours. Amsterdamers often ride with a home made kiddie box on the front.

I would use the stroller since you'll be doing a lot of walking. I would take a canal boat tour, as your means to see some of the city. Vondelpark is a beautiful place and would be fine with a baby along. I liked the Leidseplein area for walking around as well.

Dear Vikram,

Very nice to hear that you have a reservation at our hotel. I wanted to let you know that our concierge is always able to book some tours for you in advance, you can already contact him at [email protected].
Also we cooperate with the bike rental company in our parking lot, visit their website for more information about bike rental and tours at www.amsterbike.eu
It is even possible to hop on one of the canal cruises in front of the hotel, this saves you the walk to the central station.
Do not forget to take a stroll into the Jordaan area with its nice little streets and shops, also a stop at the Amsterdam Zoo, Artis will maybe be a nice visit for your child. The canal cruise has a stop over there as well.

I hope you will enjoy your stay and especially the city of Amsterdam.
For any questions do not hesitate to contact us.

With kind regards,
Dirje van Laar

Vikram, yes you can take your daughter on board, you can leave the buggy where you board the boat if you are doing a roundtrip - it will be quite safe.
