Amsterdam Hotels

We've not been to Amsterdam before, and I am wondering if there is a central hotel booking office for last minute vacancies. I know that Termini Station in Rome has a booth offering this service - is there anything similar in Amsterdam? We will be in Netherlands for 1 month in June, but aren't sure of dates for Amsterdam, so I don't want to book ahead using internet, etc.
Thanks for your advice, Di

You can book at the last minute at the tourist office right outside the Centraal rail station in A-dam.

Even if you unsure of the dates you can easily book into a "window" which encompasses both the earliest possible start dats and the latest possibel end date and then modify the reservation when the exact dates are known.

As long as there is no penalty for changes and you aren't lopping off or adding on weeks and weeks why not, if you find something you defin itely like?

You can at least read about hotel locations and user reviews at www.channels.nl

To find the tourist office anywhere in the Netherlands, the acronym is VVV.

That's also a very helpful little gem, Patrick - we recently spent several days in Canada searching for a Post Office, mainly because we didn't know what 'symbol' we were looking for. Of course, once found, we happened upon them all the time!
Cheers, Di
