Amsterdam Hotel for New Years Eve

My sister and I are planning on visiting Amsterdam for New Years. We would really appreciate some opinions on the following hotels. We are interested in safety as well as their location. Any advice would be great!
:0) Joanna
Park Hotel
NH Barbizon Palace
NH City North
Vondel Hotel

Do you have a guidebook or map that shows hotel locations? I would first pick the part of the city you'd want to stay in (I liked Vondelpark & the Leiseplein more than the central area). The ammenities of each hotel would concern me less than its location. Amsterdam is a city for walking, so personally I wouldn't want to stay in an outlying area that required constant use of transportation for site-seeing.

I've stayed in Amsterdam many times (I'm an American living in UK). My favorite hotel is Victory Hotel. Central location, safe, clean. If you're there for New Years Eve, has anyone told you that everything closes early on New Years Eve (around 6 pm) and on New Years Day? Only private parties are going on. It's tradition to spend that day with family. Better check it out before it's too late and you find yourself sitting in a hotel room looking for Burger King.
