Amsterdam - Central Rail station?

I'm just enquiring if Central Rail station is where you arrive when coming from Paris. If so, what is its proximity to the city and accommodation?

Thank you

Hi

I took a Thaly train from Paris to Amsterdam a few years back and that arrived on the main train station in the middle of town if I'm not mistaken. It is just a minute walk to the closest bars and restaurants.

The Thalys termnates at Centraal. It is more or less in the middle of the city, about 500 meters north of the Dam which would probably be considered the center. There are scores of hotels between the Dam and Centraal, and in the surroundings.

Centraal Station is a den of pickpockets and baggage thieves. Hang on to your stuff and do not donate to the professional panhandlers.

IT is slap in the centre but whether it is near your accommodation or not depends where you book! There are many hotels within a few minutes walk.
