Amsterdam

Our tour company just informed us they cannot book our pre-stay for the night of Saturday, May 20. We are four adults. Everything I have looked at so far is $$$$. Are there any locations outside of touristy area that would be price wise more reasonable that we would be able to reach by tram? Suggestions????

What $ are you looking for? $$$$, and reasonable mean different things to different people.
You say outside the touristy area, what do you mean? Where is it you want to stay?

fire up booking.com and filter for price? If it's only for one night.... don't think you'll be within the canal ring though, or in south. I'm thinking of Volkshotel on Wibautstraat for your overnight stay. It's near the Wibautstraat metro stop, so you have a good connection to the centre of town. (it's in the old offices of the Volkskrant daily, hence the name. Something in Noord, along the #52 metro could also be a solution. What's your maximum in euros per night?

Is that $300-$350 (€270-€320) per double room - or is that for all four of you i.e. $150-$175/€135-€160 each for 2 rooms?

I always use booking.com and have been extremely. Are you 2 couples, 4 people, and for one night might need to overspend or slum it to a certain level.

I've got just the slum. Stay in the centrum of lovely Haarlem - - and share one room (4 beds total) for only 266 for all of you. It will be like a sleepover. Or glamping:

I find that student halls in the summer modify themselves into tourist hotels. A bit of hunting finds some great deals.

Uhm no. That's London. We don't have campuses. The old Casa400 was something like that, but no more. I often book one-nights in Amsterdam and it's a lottery. Hence my Volkshotel tip. It's not slumming and it is faintly affordable and on a good metro stop. I'd also go for Haarlem tbh. Or Zaandam even.

Thanks all. I booked Max Brown Museum Square. Lucky they had a quad room we can share (3 sisters/1 daughter). One more question, best way to get there from the airport?

That's the #2, #5 or #12 tram from Central Station. Take the train there first from Schiphol. Stop "Rijksmuseum", your hotel is in Jan Luykenstraat. Just turn the corner off Hobbemastraat and you're practically there.
Another option is to take the direct #397 bus from Schiphol that goes directly to both Museumplein and Rijksmuseum. Super convenient for your location! https://www.connexxion.nl/nl/onze-ro...irport-express
