We will be staying in Positano for 4 nights for our honeymoon in September. We were wondering if we should spend the other 3 nights at the Casa Morango in Capri or the Santa Caterina in Amalfi?

Four nights in Positano is a lot of time to spend there UNLESS you are going to use it as a base for exploring other towns on the coast. So, you'll easily be able to see the sights of Amalfi and Ravello if you're staying in Positano. <BR><BR>Therefore, I would suggest you go to Capri for your second location. Enjoy!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Santa Caterina technically considered Positano? I agree that 4 nights is too long for Positano (unless you are really in the honeymoon cocooning mode and will be spending most of it in your room with a fabulous view or on your own private balcony!) If you want to do sightseeing, I'd say see the entire Amalfi Coast in the 4 days (with a day trip to Capri) and spend the other 3 days in Rome. (But then I've broken the &quot;answer the question, dummy&quot; rule)

We were just in Positano and spent 3 nights there. That was plenty of time. We got to see everything in the area. We took a boat down to Amalfi, from there a bus to Ravello strolled around (churches &amp; villa cimbrone) and came back to Amalfi to explore there. We were back in Positano by evening. Then caught the hydro foil to Capri the next a.m. I would definitely recommend spending at least one night on Capri. There is a lot to see - you can hike all over the island. We spent 2 nights and could easily have done a third.<BR>Have fun!

I forgot to say that friends spent their honeymoon at S. Caterina and loved it. But Casa Morgano on Capri looked lovely - I'd go for that one.

I booked one night on our first trip to Positano. We got there fell in love immediately and stayed 6 nights. loved it. Have returned twice and are planning to go again in September. Just being there is worthy of multiple nights, but from there you can go to Amalfi, Ravello, Capri, Ischia, Sorrento, Salerno, Vietri. I've spent about 12 days there and still haven't even been to all of these. That said, we are planning 3 days in Positano and 2 days on Capri for our next trip in Sept. Mostly to feel what Capri is like when the rest of the tourists leave.

Lisa:<BR>We had a wonderful stay at the Santa Caterina in Amalfi. This is a fabulous hotel in a great location for exploring the Amalfi Coast. We went to Ravello and Positano from this base and both were easy trips. Check out the website.<BR>Friends of ours that had stayed in Positano suggested this hotel. We were so pleased with the location and the wonderful staff at this hotel. Also,<BR>we were not in the most expensive rooms but treated like we were royalty.<BR>Kay

Hello Lisa,<BR><BR>There are never enough nights for this area of Italy. Given the choices you pose, Positano/Capri is the better choice for reasons already mentioned.<BR><BR>As many posters have written in the past - to experience Capri one must spend a night (or more) there.

I am planning on having my wedding in mid/late September and am trying to narrow down which city to have it in: Positono, Ravello or Amalfi? My wedding planner suggested the Santa Caterina as a possible ceremony/reception site. Any input would be much appreciated.

Hi Lisa: We spent 2 nights on Capri last Oct. and can't say enough wonderful things about it. You have to spent at least 2 nights to get a feel for this beautiful isle. We stayed at Caesar Augustus in Anacapri, though it was pricy, what the heck, it's your honeymoon - splurge! Ciao

We plan to spend 4 days in Positano at Il San Pietro, and don't know whether to spend the other 2 days at the Santa Caterina in Amalfi or the Caesar Augustus on Capri. Thoughts anyone???

After spending four days in Positano, you will have had plenty of time to see all there is to see in Amalfi. I'd skip a stay there and opt for the two days on Capri!!! Without a doubt!!

Hi Lisa!<BR><BR>Thought I'd add my $0.02 here! I spent three weeks in Italy in July 2001 and opted to spend 3 nights on Ischia Island rather than Capri. It is bigger and less crowded/touristy and equally beautiful, I hear. I had the best food of my entire trip here and spent most of the daytime relaxing on the beach or at Nugambo (sp?), a hot springs, and spent the nights wandering around the beautiful cities. You might want to consider it! Anyone else have Ischian experiences to share?
