Amazing Race final Results!
The hippies are so lucky the small plane had the weather delay, that would have been such a bad mistake at the detour. They could have been stuck 5 days at the other end of the flight.
That was a cleaver road block! I would have had trouble with that one and would probably have lost at the end.
Such fun. This was my favorite race of the 5 I have seen.
There were a lot of great lines tonight. I laughed out loud several times.
I bet we see more of BJ and Tyler in the future.

I love the way he summed up the way they approached the race with wide-eye enthusiam..amen to that. I don't think I've appreciated any team's attitude more than theirs. I'm also glad they put some brainy task in the race somewhere..tired of the typical luck aspect of it lately.
Way to go hippies..you deserved it.

I hate bunching at airports in the final leg. How many leads did Eric & Jeremy lose because of that tonight? Raylanda shouldn't even have been in the final three, they're such bad racers. And I still do not like the Hippies at all. The best team was second, again.

Woo-hoo! What a finish! Earlier I had said I'd be happy with Ray & Yolanda winning, and I really wouldn't mind who won.
But, when I was watching the show I was so disappointed with the way Ray & Yolanda were racing that by halfway thru I was hoping they would not win as I didn't feel they deserved to win giving how poorly they were racing at such a late stage in the game.
(I was heartened to see the Hippies give them some yen tho. It may have been karmic tho I don't think that's what the Hippies had on their minds when they left it.)
So who then was I cheering for? At first I thought the frat boys deserved to win since they had consistently been at the top, and in the last few weeks had grown on me a bit.
However, when it was down to the final challenge, I was REALLY cheering for the Hippies to finish it off. I thought they enjoyed the race the most, generally displayed good raceman-ship (even tho Tyler tried to psych out the Frat on the rollercoaster at least he took it on the chin at the mat), and took time for the locals (speaking foreign phrases, picking up the bedouin, etc.). Also, I thought they would probably do some good with the $1M whereas the Frats would probably party-hardy it all away (judgemental I know!)
I was so tense as the frat boys had finished a third of the task (3 flags) before the Hippies showed up. In the end the Hippies respectful-of-each-other teamwork paid off as BJ did all the most the work but Tyler identified the last flag.
I really liked the last Roadblock with the flags with a few red herrings thrown in (and last season's with the map of the USA) as it centres on what the race is about - travelling the world, being a part of it instead of just being there; isn't based on luck; and is easy to get confused on.
Generally a great episode: the Hippies really rocked Japan - wonderful to see them really challenge the racers by putting them in that environs, great to see them got somewhere cold...LOL for poor Ray trying to aclimatize, even funnier with Tyler croaking out syllable by syllable something like they could take on the frats physically during the ice-fishing hole while barely being able to turn his drill.
The only thing that sucked was the T-Mobile prize - seemed prizes got worse as the race went on whereas I think they should be rewarded more for making it there first when they're travel-weary and racing against only a few teams. The leg with the golden gnome also left the first team in with no prize. They don't need more prizes, just change the order in which they give them out.
Loved the season...looking forward to the next one now!
Enjoy-la!

Forgot to mention that while I was cheering for the Hippies, it was hard to watch the disappointment from the Frats, who knew the led most of the race, and made it to the final Roadblock first. As they had said several times, they were definitely not there to place second. :'(

TTAW!!! I was so happy for the hippies! They definitely showed such a great travelers' attitude throughout the whole race. The Frat Boys were less about enjoying the traveling and encounters with other cultures--they just wanted to win the money. In fact they were (IMHO) disrespectful in a few places. Whereas the hippies always seemed genuinely happy to go to these new places and try new things. They were always polite to the people they met; the other teams too often were like, "Gimme the clue."
I got a kick out of Tyler using his Japanese!
What happened to Ray and Yolanda? It's like they just burned out. Sloppy racing for it to be the last leg.

Great season this time around. I'm happy the hippies won. They truly enjoyed themselves, were courteous and respectful of the countries they visited, and made a point to immerse themselves as best they could in the culture. In my opinion, they were travelers, not tourists. I don't think they made the smartest decisions, such as begging for money (last week) instead of booking their flight first, but they were the nice guys helping others out (Fran and Barry, Ray and Yolanda) and it proves that nice guys finish first.
