They can't purchase 1st class, but I think the agent 'bumped' them up as a perk.

Truffles Mar 30th, 2005 06:03 AM

I also thought the donation to the orphanage was a nice touch! Finally, a meaningful task!

peterboy Mar 30th, 2005 06:13 AM

Good points ncgrrl

There was some very nice stuff that went on last night...we tendo to focus on the negative.

I thought it was quite funny that there was "no room" in the cab for R&A...they can dish it out but they sure can't take it. I'm not sure R&A would have made it last night without all the help from people that recognised them.

JamesA Mar 30th, 2005 06:32 AM

yes we see it in Asia. I don't know if you see any of the japanese reality shows in the USA but they really know how to test the will of contestants! Meredith and Grechan although making mistake (leaving cave without the clue) showed that they actually have what it takes. I have a feeling Rob and Amber might be out soon. The brothers did well.

abbynicole27 Mar 30th, 2005 06:34 AM

I agree that I definitely like Rob and Amber somewhat less now, but probably more for the "He probably pushed her" comment than for not stopping. I don't really see what they could have done to help, although it would have been much more decent of them to at least slow down and ask.
It was good of Lynn and Alex to help, but at the end they were tooting their own horns a bit much for my tastes - it was getting on my nerves ("It was just the right thing to do, oh we're so great...")
Can't believe what the older couple have been through, and so glad that they beat Ray and Deana!

Betsy Mar 30th, 2005 06:36 AM

What a finish! Finally, something to get excited about. I'm SO glad that the obnoxious Ray suffered an embarrasing defeat after repeatedly demeaning Meredith and Gretchen. Watching for him on CBS' Morning Show here on the West Coast. I don't usually gloat, but he got what he deserved IMHO.

ucsun Mar 30th, 2005 06:45 AM

sure rob didn't stop, but nobody else besides lynn/ales did either. slowing down and simply asking if everyone is oke is not much better than driving by. even the brothers told them that they didn't want them to lose the race because of them stopping. i would have at least slowed to check. but a race is a race. in sports you don't see the other team come out and check the condition of another team's player when hurt.

good for the brothers...good sprint and good drive to make up the gap. and why didn't ray drive if he thought he was so good...

Anton Mar 30th, 2005 07:03 AM

I'll bet Ray can't drive a stick shift.

Barbara Mar 30th, 2005 07:06 AM

It's interesting that almost everyone is quick to criticize Rob for things he says and does, but where's the criticism and the high ethical standards for the others when they are less than you would all be. Had it been Rob who refused to let Lynn and Alex share the cab/bus, you would have been all over him.

Lynn and Alex are much more horrible than Rob and Amber, but they are getting a pass here - because they hate R & A. They did stop to help", but they did absolutely nothing to help. The person holding the shade was one of the brothers. Lynn and Alex are rude and patronizing to a lot of people along the way and rude about everyone else.

If you're going to insist on high standards in a TV reality show, than at least hold all the contestants to the same standard.

Keith Mar 30th, 2005 07:14 AM

When Phil brought up R&A's not stopping, I thought maybe there was a rule that if another team (or member of the crew) had a major accident or illness, the other teams had to check if they needed assistance. A 4 hour penalty would have been nice.

EVERY other team checked.

I still can't stand listening to Gretchen, but I do respect her.

I started out with a unreasoned prejudice against the brothers, but was glad to see them stay in the race.

The visit to the Orlando Children’s Home was special!

This season, the Amazing Race has done a good job of showing us countries in a different light.

Dear Susan M,
Would you have the government force me to have sensitivity training? Just wondering.

LoriNY Mar 30th, 2005 07:36 AM

OK, I'll admit it, last night was the first time I watched this season. The two guys, Lynn & Alex, have to be the most annoying people I have seen. Rob and Ameber - they'll be gone soon. I loved the two brothers tho, and thought the end was exciting. Hated that Ray guy - what a jerk!

Fodorite018 Mar 30th, 2005 08:04 AM

I missed last weeks show since we were traveling, so it was great to come here and find out what happened!

Although I cannot stand Ray, it was great to see those two do the fast pass thing (can't remember what the right term is) and slow Rob and Amber down a bit.

I too was hoping there would be a penalty for R&A at the end. Lynn and Alex are annoying, but they did stop and try to help. They could have taken off again very soon, but they didn't. Meredith and Gretchen are a team that I really like. They are doing a great job of keeping up with all the younger teams and they treat each other with respect. I have liked the brothers from the beginning too. Joyce and her dh (I won't even attempt his name, lol!) are another couple I really like, and more so after last night.

Madison Mar 30th, 2005 08:16 AM

Absolutely loved the fact that Ray and Deana are gone and Gretchen and her husband are still around.

Gretchen and her husband came in last in part 1 last night. I wonder if it was decided ahead of time that whoever came in last for that episode would get a reprieve or if it is better TV to have they stick around.

I have always loved Rob and Amber but have to say I was disappointed in them last night. It would have taken 10 seconds out of their time to make sure everyone was okay.

Also do Gretchen and her husband get their clothes back or are they gone forever?

Grasshopper Mar 30th, 2005 08:21 AM

I thought the most disturbing comments were at the end when Ray said "I don't know if I can stay with someone who just doesn't push herself." And she said "We have to be together."

Why Why Why?!!! Find a decent guy! What a complete jerk he was.

Barbara Mar 30th, 2005 09:15 AM

Madison, they're gone for the rest of the race, then they get them back.

Joelleinitaly04 Mar 30th, 2005 09:22 AM

Those boyfriends are a lot tougher than they like to pretend. I think they are cute.

Give me a break, Rob whining because Lynn and Alex wouldn't let them in their cab. Yarite like he wouldn't do the same thing to them. If he does it, he's smart. If he's the victim of it, it's some kind of injustice.

Everyone I hate is gone so I'm gonna hate to see the next one go.

Joelleinitaly04 Mar 30th, 2005 09:25 AM

Oh yea, I knew I wanted to say something else- I'd like to see more tasks that that are of benefit like the orphanage shopping expedition. I hate the eating contests, I've always thought eating contests were immoral in a world where most people struggle get enough food to survive.

Jocelyn_P Mar 30th, 2005 09:33 AM

Can someone report how Ray acted on the Early Show? I sure hope Deana has wised up by now.

Marilyn Mar 30th, 2005 09:38 AM

Boy do I ever agree, Joelle. The orphanage donation was one of the nicest, most heart-warming tasks TAR has ever done, and I sure hope they come up with more like that. I'd like to see every race include some charitable task instead of the perennial eating challenge. I think I've seen more people barf on TAR than I've seen in my entire real life.

I find Gretchen annoying also, but you have to give her a lot of points for attitude and stamina. If they took my "stuff" I think I'd give up.

Also, Uchenna and Joyce have gone to the top of my list for giving G&M some clothes to help them out. And I was touched by the brothers' obvious concern for the cameraman, more so than their own position in the race. I just LOVED that it was the final sprint that eliminated Ray. What greater irony could there be than Ray getting beat in the end by someone YOUNGER and MORE FIT?!?! Sweet.
