actually, it's a bit longer than that. 45-50 minutes if the traffic isn't too bad

The last time we drove from Amalfi to Positano was last July. It took more like 45 minutes and there wasn't all that much traffic. Although it doesn't look that far on a map, there are many deep coves and hairpin turns which slow you down a great deal. If you run into a lot of traffic or unlucky enough to get stuck behind a truck, tour bus or very timid driver, the drive can be well over an hour.

If the boats are running, that is a very scenic, less hectic alternative.

I agree completely with the above post. Beautiful scenery and only 15 minutes between Positano and Amalfi.

As the crow flies, it's only about 6 miles between these two towns. Travel time varies according to when you'll be there. I could easily see this short distance taking 45 minutes during the busy summer season.

My husbands cousin drove it. Maybe it was longer, but it seemed like only minutes in between. Talk about a scary ride!!! Pepino wouldn't slow down!
