Amalfi Coast in February, am I NUTS!

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of taking advantage of some of the great low airfares right now and wondered if a trip to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast in mid-February is crazy? I realize some hotels etc. will be closed but what about weather? Would base myself out of Sorrento as it has the better connections to the Amalfi Coast as well as Pompeii. The only reason for February is most of the deals end with travel leaving on 3/4/04 and February is the only month I can get away....have to work to pay for the travel habit!!!

I went to Amalfi in February a few years ago for a week - we had one day when it was sleeting, two days cold and rainy, and several days sunny and temp in the high 60s - all in all quite good!

A lot of restaurants were closed, but still lots open - had a great time.

We went to the Amalfi coast in July and wished it was in February!!! I've lived in Italy, and should have known better than to go to a seaside resort in the summer. We kept thinking how beautiful it would be without the massive crowds and traffic. You'll have a fabulous time!

It is a great time to visit the Amalfi Coast, and you will have the tourist attractions to yourself.

Well, been there twice. Both times rain prevailed. Still better than being anywhere else. Bring an Umbrella. And, by the way, I will be in Sorrento the first week in January....again.

We went there a few years ago in early March and it rained for three days straight with no let up. The sun came out on the last day. We still enjoyed ourselves but, all things considered, October was a lot nicer.
