Hi M50,
Good thing I checked; I wasn't aware there were messages on my older post. I did start a trip report. I'm not sure how to send the link for the report but I know you can click into my username.
I did not use the tour companies. The busses and ferries are so much better and you can easily manage your time. It also gives the freedom to wander as much as you want especially if you are having fun in 1 particular area.

For the best spots, shopping and restaurants for Amalfi coast, Pompeii, Sorrento and surronds, we have used Giovanni from Tourofitaly.com.
we had a great time, reasonable price, well organized, and very friendly and they gave also a limoncello bottle to used their company.
