If you are determined to make yourself feel badly I can't stop you, but Napoli is full of garbage, dangerous drivers, petty crime, upsetting chaos, upsetting poverty, open drug dealing, open prostitution, an air of hopelessness and degrading attitudes toward women, among others. The only reasons I can think to go there are (a) an overriding interest in the past and future of Italy and/or (b) such a culture vulture attitude about art that you'll put up with anything.

Those are also my reasons for going to Venice, by the way, which I would otherwise skip. I find just as exasperating a destination as Napoli in its own way, and without the compensation of fantastic food to eat and beautiful Italians to look at.
