AMALFI / CAPRI IN MARCH?

I would like to visit Amalfi and Capri in mid march since airfares are so low.

What has been your expereince about visiting these two areas during this time? Are restaurants closed? Is it too cool? Is Capri deserted? Is it too cold to walk along shore?

Help! Thanks!!!! Nick

We had hoped to go there in late March. Disappointing

I was in Positano and on Capri during the first week of April last year-- everything open, weather was perfect! Sunny, lower 70's during the day, cool at night-- only one day on Capri was it a bit chilly-- otherwise, we spent afternoons by the pool, in swimsuits, sipping limoncello, getting suntans! So I'd think in late March, you might be ok... check weather.com for the average highs/lows in Naples.
Also kee in mind that the "high season" begins there on Easter weekend... which this year is in late March...
The Amalfi Coast is wonderful- enjoy!

Dear Nick, it's almost the best period you can choose.
Restaurants are open; Capri is wonderful without crowd. The only problem is rain and wind but it may happens half a day, not more.
I suggest you to stay at Sorrento so that one day you can go to Amalfi and one day you can go to Capri leaving from the Sorrento's harbour.
Other days you can spend visiting other sweet palces and eating very very well.
If you need help, you e-mail me.

I think I will be going in Mid March, since airfares are much lower during that period.

I have now decided, considering the time period, and feedback I have gotten, to forgo this trip to Amalfi, and to instead go to Florence/Siena/Tuscany. I will go to Amalfi in the future during the spring (when I can afford it!)
