"Wonder what they do to tourists who can't afford to get back home?! Sigh...
Indeed you might check with all the tourists that are now stranded in Hawaii with the demise of both ATA,and Aloha airlines going belly up in the same week.
I see NWA has offered to rebook stranded Hawaiian passengers on its own airline for only $100.00 per flight segment!

I too have been watching this situation closely as I have a flight from Athens-> Rome booked for August 28th. Even thought at this point it has only affected flights out of Milan I better start looking for other options it seems

I called the bank re: possible refund of our Alitalia tickets for July travel. Since we paid with a VISA card, we must fill out a Regulation E claim form. I haven't seen it, nor do I know what fees the bank may charge.
Our Alitalia flight was not advantageous, but seemed to be the only alternative. Since then, I've learned that we do have a more viable alternative, so Alitalia's difficulties may be a moot point for us.
