Alitalia question

I flew Alitalia from JFK to Milan and Naples and from Naples and Milan to Neewark in May/June of this year. I was pleasantly surprised, expecting the worst after some strange experiences with this airline many years ago. I had requested an aisle seat and got it. The spacing of the seats and the legroom in economy class were by far the best I have ever experienced on any airplane. On the way to Italy I had a normal aisle seat. On the return to USA I had an aisle seat near an exit door and could fully stretch my legs. No one smoked on the planes, and my luggage flew on the same planes and arrived when I did. The food gave me something to do to pass the time and didn't kill me. I don't remember the flight crew on the way to Italy, but on the way back, there were several nice young men who had studied for a few months in California. The flight from JFK to Milan was late, so we missed our connection to Naples. However, that was because of congestion at JFK, not because of any failings on the part of Alitalia.

In short, Alitalia is no longer the airline I most dread taking to Europe. (Olympic is!).In fact Alitalia is the most comfortable one I've ever flown.
