Alitalia connections at MXP?

I am considering an Alitalia flight from the US that is scheduled to arrive in Milan MXP at 8:15 a.m. and the connecting Alitalia flight to Florence departs at 9:15 a.m. From anyone's experience, is this a realistic connection to make? I do have another alternative, to wait 4+ hrs at MXP and fly to Pisa instead, which is actually a bit closer to my destination but 4+ hrs at MXP sounds doesn't sound so appealling. Advice appreciated, thanks!

Are you sure about the 9:15am departure from Milan? Normally one would expect a 1:30 hour window. Anyway, unless there´s a major delay in your inbound flight, there shouldn´t be much problems (the connecting flight may also be delayed some). In certain situations, you´d be able to follow but not your luggage

Wait the 4 hrs. Been thru Milan airport a few times & the ground personnel are uniformly uninformed which is ironic since most overseas flughts do arrive in early a.m.

Nutella, it appears that your flight out from Milan is AZ1692. I just checked at the Alitalia site and this flight shows as "non disponible" for ALL dates I tested (april through june). I´ve a hunch that this is so because it´s a special connection for inbound overseas flights. If this is indeed the case, you´ll make your connection all right, because departure should be adjusted to eventual delays. If you´re booked on this flight, if your inbound flight is very late, the worst that may happen is that you´ll end up taking the Pisa flight. But in this case you wouldn´t have to wait 4+hrs, right?

Last year Alitalia gave me a 50min connection time for a Rome-MXP-Boston flight. I asked my TA to recheck it and Alitalia said it was a "valid connection". I checked-in early and was put on an earlier flight though. Regards, Walter
