Alitalia

DH called Delta today to check the Alitalia legs of our flights in Italy and to Greece today. The person he spoke with said not to worry. AF/KLM had bought Alitalia. I can't find anything online about this. Was she misinformed?

I assume they were mistaken to be honest. They would not know more than the news media.

AFKLM has not bought AZ. Fate of AZ still unknown at this time, and probably not in the next couple of weeks.

The AF/KLM purchase of Alitalia was called off last week or so and will most likely not happen in the future. Probably no news about what the government will do, if anything, until after the upcoming elections.

It's very hard to understand how anyone with any kind of interest in the airline industry could come out with the complete nonsense that Delta person told you. Or limit their reading to papers that haven't covered Air France's abandoning talks with Alitalia. It's certainly true Delta staff can know no more than the media publish - but the media haven't exactly been censoring the torrent of Alitalia stories for the past week

From which one of only two possible conclusions:

- Delta tells its staff to lie
- Delta puts people on its information desks with no interest in their job.

Either way, don't trust Delta.

Hello spinch, here is a news report dated April 10th, just one of many regarding Alitalia.

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080410/italy_alitalia.html?.v=1

Either the Delta person your husband talked to was given wrong information by Delta or the person was just plain stupid, lol.

Anyway, in either case your husband was absolutely given the incorrect information.

I do hope that the Alitalia situation gets works out for the sake of the employees of Alitalia and for all of your travellers that have purchased tickets with Alitalia. Good wishes to you.
