Dear Al, I have just read your message and cannot stop my tears. I was diagnosed with cancer nearly twenty years ago but survived. I'm so very sorry that your daughter did not. The fact that so many of us are sharing your grief counts for something in this "world without reason." You, your daughter and her daughter have touched our lives.
Al- First, I too am sorry for your loss. I trust you will find strength in the Lord and peace in the ever presence of your daughter. What an angel to have. It is strange that I too came close to that dreadful flight of E Air 990. My girlfirend and two of her friends were scheduled on that flight leaving from Los Angeles. One of the girls became very ill two days before the flight was scheduled and although disapointed, they all decided to cancel and re-book one week later. We look at those unused flight tickets and can hardly believe it. We have wept for our close call and those who lost their lives. We now pray for you and your family and rejoyce in the miracles life (and death) play in our meer existance. God Bless you both.

Dear Al - My heartfelt sympathy to you, your wife and your daughter's spouse and child. Your story of the wood-carving most certainly is wreathed in mystery. I hope the carving of that angel was a comforting experience.

As an inveterate Fodor's browser, I've come to recognize your posts, and to know that they are always considerate and informative. As others have expressed, I'm glad that you continue to be with us, to share your knowledge and wisdom.

To the top...I wish the title of this posting could be changed so that others who "know" and enjoy Al and Ruth could send their condolences--they really do help...
Dear Al,

Please accept my familys' condolences on your loss. We have an eleven month old baby who underwent successful surgery this past week and every moment we have together is the most precious moment of our life. We are going to Paris and the Amalfi coast with her this coming year.

Al - I've been away from the forum for a while, so I just saw this thread. I, too, want to express my sincere condolences on the loss of your daughter. I can't even begin to know your pain. But, chalk me up as one more Fodorite who is profoundly thankful you are still with us. Peace...
