Airfare to Italy - good price?
Greetings!
I have tickets on hold for myself on USAirways for $594.70, or about $100 less than the current lowest fare, using hubby's employee discount.
Not knowing how prices will be in the next few/several months, but thinking they'll be going up, I have a good deal here. Would you agree?
Thanks!
Monica

So sorry for not posting the locations. Philadelphia to Rome (RT).
Bob, the only discounts Tony could get for you is stand-by. However, I don't think he can get those while he's furloughed. We both hope he gets his job back in Jan or Feb!

Thanks, I think I'll book it this weekend!
Oh, I found a great web site for finding the right seat for flights. http://www.seatguru.com/ You can see the comments on the good vs poor seats (we all know the ones near the Lavs are bad) but if you put your curser on top of the seat chart you'll get a pop up message, such as the one I did for my seats ("...2 inches more leg room than....". Cool!!

Monica,
Sounds like a great price to me. When is your return? I am looking for something similar except the first of May on US Air from CLT over $1,000 now. We always connect in Philadelphia. Hopefully Tony gets back to flying first of the year.
Yes, I always look at seatguru also.
I do love Italy and have only spent a week in Rome so would love to do Venice, Florence, few other places in Tuscany.

Bob, I found flying in/out of Zurich was a lot cheaper than in/out of Milan, plus rental cars from Zurich are less expensive -- can use Plat M/C or Amex in Zurich and waive the CDW, where you can't do that in Italy.

maryanne1, I'm returning late October. Hopefully will have good weather. YES, I hope Tony gets his job back soon! Time to stop freeloading off me.
Don't know why I didn't think of it before, but yes, what I got is an excellent price. I recently booked my trip to Paris (same discount and out of PHL to CDG) for the spring and paid about $750.

I booked my tickets about 4 weeks ago for March, and have seen the prices rise steadily since then.
4 of us (DH and I plus our 2 grandsons) flying out of Daytona Beach to CDG, staying in Paris for 3 nights, then flying to Rome for 5 nights, then back to DAB. Got all three flights via Air FRance for $712 per person. I figure we paid around $10 each for the Paris-Rome leg. The same itinerary today is close to $400 more on the site I purchased from, and up to $1000 more on other sites. You really have to watch it daily for months before you buy!

Are you all including junk fees and taxes in these prices? I'm curious because I am also looking at flights for late March and early April. Can get total trip from Altanta into Venice (via Paris) and out of Rome (via Paris again) on Air France including all taxes and junk fees for just under $800 per person.
Is that reasonable?

My ticket price of $594.70 does include all taxes. That's the final cost to me.
Based on comments here and another web site, anything under $800 should be good. Who's to say when to book or how long to wait. You just never know.
