Airfare for UK in May

I'm starting to keep an eye on the air fares and was wondering how low I can expect the fares to go. I'm planning on flying from Washington, DC, to London then from Edinburgh to back to Washington in late May. So far, the lowest fare I've seen is $674.

That seems high to me - but being an open jaw ticket probably accounts for that. Look into R-T to London or into Edinburgh and you'll likely save more than enough to to fly or take a train bewteen the two cities.

I've been keep my eye on prices from JFK (NYC) to Paris and they're still around $600 or more too. I'm not sure how long to wait, or if 9/11 is going to keep the prices higher this year. Any opinions?

OK. Now I'm seeing an open jaw from Washington to London, Edinburgh to London to Washington for $589 for the end of May.

How lucky to live on the east coast - the same trip is 1200 from the midwest.
