Not much in central London, but let him drag you out to Duxford, outside Cambridge. It's about an hour by train from Kings Cross, then a free shuttle bus from the station to the museum. He'll love it; you won't mind it, then you can make him take you into Cambridge for a look at the colleges, perhaps a visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum, and a meal at one of the many fine restaurants in the city.

If you want to be impressed and moved, take the Cambridge hop-on, hop-off bus tour out to the American Military Cemetery at Madingley where many U.S. soldiers and airmen are buried.

Have a great trip,

Virginia

On the outskirts of NW London are the RAF Museum and the Battle of Britain Museum--both excellent WWII air museums. You can reach them by the underground (I have forgotten which line). You and your husband will enjoy these sites.

Regards,

Jinx Hoover

P.S.--Duxford is great, also.

The RAF museum is presented in several hangars of old Hendon Airfield. It is reached by a short walk from Colindale Station on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line. The way is signposted from the tube station, if memory serves me right. It is well worth a visit.

Enjoy your trip

Phil is correct. Take the Northern Line to Colindale. As you walk out of the station, cross the street and turn left. Keep walking (road bends to the right) past the roundabout and police station to the museum.

On a related note, the Imperial War Museum in London is excellent, and has a significant air component. Several bus routes pass by it, but I don't think there was a really convenient tube stop.
