Hi Micaela- Just returned from Spain and used Air Europa to fly from Paris to Madrid at a very cheap rate. The flight was fine-almost on time, very safe and with professional service. It is a small company so they don't have their check in stations open until 2 hours before take off but they are very legit and quite a deal!
Colleen

Firstly Micaela, I have to say I have never flown Air Europa. However Which? (a consumer magazine) conducts a survey each year asking passengers to say whether or not they would recommend airlines to a friend.

In the Spring 2001 Holiday Which? survey, Air Europa came absolute bottom of 61 airlines. (ok so Aeroflot wasn't in the list, but it's still a pretty damning non-recommendation.)
Other cheap airlines, such as easyjet, Go and Buzz did very well, so it's not just a matter of cost. I hope you're lucky and have a good experience.

Returned last month from med cruise on Grandeur. Did some R&R in Mallorca and flew Air Europa from Barcelona to Palma and back. I was impressed with the airline - I expected little and they gave a lot - very professional staff, courteous stewardesses, well maintained aircraft and on time service.

Yikes!! Thank you all for your responses though I am now a little bit concerned about flying them transatlantic. Has anyone flown them transatlantic??? I have flown Iberia (absolutely HATE them) and Continental (absolutely LOVE them) but Cont. ticket price was over $1,100!

I hope someone has something reassuring to say about AE....

Thank you all.

Micaela:

At least for flights in Spain, Air Europa is WAY better than Iberia. The only advantage Iberia has is better schedules.

If you have flown Iberia on a trasatlantic flight, you shouldn't be too concerned about Air Europa. If I recall correctly, they use 767's for their trasatlantic flights, so you should be OK.

Is it going to be like Virgin or British Airways? Probably not. Better than Iberia? Most probably yes.

Have a great trip!

Micaela,

I flew Air Europa round trip from JFK to Madrid and they were fine; both flights left on time, cabin crew were attentive, food was decent, seats were no worse than on other airlines, and inflight entertainment was enjoyable.

Have a great time.

I have been searching like mad trying to find info regarding the best options for travel to Mallorca. Do you believe boat or air to be the best route and why? I think we will be traveling in june of 2003--a little soon to begin trying to find or count on low airfares, but right now i am simply trying to find the best route to the island. Any and all help welcome as I tag on to this old thread which is just one of many that I have skimmed looking for this info.

Thank you.

linda

Air Europa has numerous domestic flights in Spain out of Madrid. It operates a popular air-bridge between Madrid & Barcelona, and services other cities in Europe as well as Latin America. Its airplanes are relatively new and ticket prices are very economical!
Towards the end of 2001 they partnered with Continental so it's now likely you'll be flying on Continental flights to Spain from the US even though you have bought an Air Europa ticket.

(advi9se from a native)simply, definitively... try another one.
I´ve been always late. reason? frist: they are cheap becasue they book the cheapoer time fingers but they sell flights on different schedules. conclusion? alwyas delayed. Second. tmost of the planes do jump flights from one destination to another like the city buses i.e. first flight from vigo to madrid then to mallorca, barna, madrid...
just to give an idea when I call a travel agency for a holidya trip i alwauys gave them a simply clear instruction: no way to fly with air europa.
