Air Conditioning for My Mom

I will be taking my mother to Paris next July and I need to find an air-conditioned room (hopefuly with a view of the Eiffel Towel) on and stay within our budget. Is it possible? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Without knowing your budget, do you expect one of us to answer??
Knowing your budget would be helpful! We stayed at the Relais Bosquet Hotel in the 7th Arr. this past April - it has a/c (altho we did not need it). We had a view of the Eiffel Tower from our room (superior room, 5th floor, #53 I think it was). This hotel was a 3*** and about $120/night. Breakfast was additional. I would recommend it very highly, there is a small elevator and it's around the corner from Rue Cler (pedestrian street) and 1.5 blocks from Ecole Militaire Metro Stop. I'd also suggest you check out the Best Western International sites - there are many BW's in Paris. WE've stayed in some and they were all good. (They are individual hotels that belong to the BW marketing program, hence you can book through BW).
There are many hotels in the 7th Arr. that would offer some view of the Eiffel Tower but not knowing your budget makes it hard to recommend.

Sorry for the budget omission! We would like to stay under $100.00.

Without more details, I'm going to list a few hotels, economy-minded, generally speaking, most if not all recommended on this message board, that have air conditioning. I have not stayed at these, just compiled some info.
For more details, you can search on this forum for any or all of them.
You can also check on them at
www.paris.org or www.hotelboulevard.com
I can also send you my large Paris file if you want to email me.
Hotel Dauphine St Germain des Pres
Tel: 1 43-26-74-34 Fax: 1 43-26-49-09
email: [email protected]
Hotel Turenne
Tel: 1-47-05-99-92
Fax: 1-45-56-06-04
Hotel Muguet
Tel 147 05 05 93 fax 145 50 25 37
www.hotelmuguet.com
Hotel du Palais Bourbon
tel 144 11 30 708, fax 145 55 20 21,
[email protected]
Hotel de Fleurie
Phone 153 73 70 00.
Fax 153 73 70 2
Hotel du Jardin du Luxembourg
Phone 140 46 08 88; fax 140 46 02 28
le Tourville
Phone 147 05 62 62, fax 147 05 43 90

Charlie,
I was writing my posting while you were adding the $100 information.
That's going to be hard to get with
airconditioning and an elevator.
Do a survey first at
www.paris.org or www.hotelboulevard.com
and then compare the hotels that interest you with either my list above,
or any results of a Paris hotel
search on this message board

Charlie: You will also find some good hotel suggestions and great Paris info at
www.parisavenue.com

.. agree with Elaine, it's hard to find A/C under USD 100.-. But to be honest, weather in central Europe has been VERY variable so far this July.
From 15 to 30°C everything. From cold to hot. You never know...

Charlie, I can vouch for the Hotel Turenne on Elaine's list. We visited Paris in August so I wanted to be sure to have a/c. It is in the 7th Arr with an easy walk to the Eiffel Tower. It had an elevator as well. Our room for a double was about $80 a night. It was a small room but very comfortable, nice staff and great location. It's been recommended repeatedly on this forum. We booked it by emailing them. You can check it out at www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75007turenne.html.

Do you have a particular area in mind? Can your mother climb stairs?

I don't think you will need an air conditioner.

Don't listen to the last poster, it can get very hot in Paris in July. I was there for 5 days and it was very hot and miserable.
