Advice on Tuscany rentals

My husband & I are planning a trip to Tuscany (Chianti) end of Sept first part of Oct. Looking for an apartment or house within walking distance to a village or in the village.I have all the rental books & have spent hours on web sites. We would love to have suggestions for the area between Florence and Sienna. Thanks

Judy, try out some of these sites www.villavacations.com, theparkercompany.com,vacationspot.com,www.villeetvillage.com, we rented house from a Samme Daniels in Panzano/Greve area, she lives part time in Italy, Tel/Fax 011-39-055-85-2817. The house is on the Fontodi Winery Estate, and really lovely, close/walking distance to Panzano...we loved it, and close driving distance to all he hilltowns (check map) She is in residence in Italy May, August-October. Her residence in California is Larkspur telephone #415-925-0322 or 415-332-5814 that is tele/fax #'s. Try homebase-abroad.com also.
Good luck...you now have many choices. Cher4travel

Judy, just ran across a wonderful map of the Tuscany area...www.monterinaldi.it/gifs/greve.jpg, you might want to bring it up and make a copy. You can see the area you are interested in very well, and it has the Greve and Panzano area showing very well. Check it out, I think it will help you and your husband. Its
three pages. Susan is right: www.rentvillas.com is one of the best for Italy rentals: great information and advice, and reasonable prices.

Last summer on a flight to LAX I was sitting next to a couple from Sonoma who raved about a place they stayed in just above the village of Rignano sull Arno (about 10 miles from Florence). It is called Fattoria Pagnana - their site (which I have checked out) looks pretty well done: www.fattoria-pagnana.com They said that they walked or cycled to the local village but pointed out that a car is recommended in any case to best appreciate the surrounding countryside.
Good luck with your search,
Grant
