Advice on travel to Tuscany - where to stay?
I am planning a honeymoon for 1 - 2 weeks in June 2005. Our ideal location would be a relaxed setting in Tuscany, possibly near a vineyard, but close to a city. We would like to use a villa or farmhouse as a home-base, and plan day trips to see the surrounding areas.
Any advice on the best areas in Tuscany, and resources to find a rental, would be appreciated. Also, most rentals I have found rent from Saturday-Saturday. This won't work because the wedding is on Saturday - any suggestions?

the above link will take you to the vacation review section.
Try southern Tuscany.

The area around Castellini in Chianti fits your description. You could check out rentals in Castellini, Radda, Greve, all of which put you within a 40 min. drive to Florence, a little more to Siena, and just over an hour to San Gimignano, and Volterra.
We stayed in Radda last August at an in-town hotel, Relais Fattoria VIgnale. Not much to do in Radda, but it had gorgeous countryside, and was an easy drive to some wonderful vineyards and towns.
Congratulations, and have a great time!

Split your trip into northern (Chianti?) and southern Tuscany.
You might also consider Umbria as well.
Choose an agriturismo with a view.
I have a favorite place just outside Greve (Podere Torre) that has great views, a wonderful room (also a nice small apartment),great breakfasts, and is as relaxing as it gets.
The area around Montalcino is also one that quickly comes to mind.

we stayed S of Siena for 4 nights and it was wonderful. Found a nightly rental place via www.tuscany.net (some are weekly but some are less). Congrats! You'll love it!
